ABOUT

The Time Treasurer is owned and operated by Robin Alario. It is an archival consulting business concentrating on arrangement, description and historical research.

I earned an undergraduate degree in Literature at American University, which gave me an excellent foundation for writing professionally. I have Masters' Degrees in Library and Information Studies (concentration on archives management and History) from the University of Rhode Island (2011/2013). I am a member of both the New England Archivists and Society of American Archivists.

I adhere to the ethics, values and principles of the Code of Ethics for Archivists, and the ACRL Code of Ethics for Special Collections Librarian . I also learned to follow the policies outlined in the ACRL/SAA Joint Statement on Access to Research Materials in Archives and Special Collections Libraries.  I strive to be an asset to researchers by providing my services to create access to collections. It is my mission to provide access to primary sources so users can benefit from the archival record, whatever it may be. I will not prevent access for personal reasons.

Over the course of several years, I came to discover that the archives profession is the exact match for my passion for history, enjoyment of writing and desire to share my finds with the rest of the world. I’ve been researching history for as long as I can remember. In the classroom, I learned about the importance of protecting and preserving historical documents and through hands-on processing projects, I gained valuable practical experience in upholding the SAA’s mission to “select, preserve, and make available historical and documentary records of enduring value.” I fully support this mission. I am committed to protecting materials and guarding them against damage, deterioration and theft.

I have worked on several projects providing access to historic documents at area institutions. I have worked on transcription and description projects at the Rhode Island Historical Society; arrangement and description projects with inventories and finding aids for the Providence Public Library special collections and Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame; numerous research projects including a grant-funded digital exhibit.

I aim to meet the needs of a diverse group of users as quickly, effectively, and efficiently as possible. I love processing collections and researching historical topics. It feels like a treasure hunt to discover something unknown and bring it to light
